Creepy Sesame Street Video! Big Bird Meets Snuffaluffagus

8:56 AM Posted by CalgaryDaddy

I just had to share this funny ( creepy) video that I came across.  This vintage Sesame Street video shows how Big Bird and Snuffaluffagus first met back in the 1970's.  Take a look at this video, especially when they flash back to the original meeting and try not to laugh.

I am not sure what the costume designers where thinking when they designed Snuffy, but he looks like a serious crack head!  Even Big Bird looks like he got some "feather plugs" in the 1980's  to fill in his bald spots.  Creeeeepy!

I can imagine that many kids in the 70's would have been scared stiff by this creepy version of Snuffy!

Disney's Mars Needs Moms Movie Review!

8:39 AM Posted by CalgaryDaddy

I had the opportunity to attend an advance screening of Disney's newest movie, Mars Needs Moms last weekend!  Becky, Austin and I dropped Kyron off at his grandma's for a quick visit and we headed out for some 10am popcorn!  This was the first time I have ever been to a 3D movie and I thought it was pretty amazing.

The movie is fun for kids of all ages and mixes in a great storyline with the right amount of action and humour. ( Parents will like the offbeat humour also, as there are some funny 1980's references!)

I would recommend this movie to anyone as it is pretty entertaining.  The 3D special effects are simply amazing and it really is a cool experience.

Synopsis:

Produced by the team behind “Disney’s A Christmas Carol” and “The Polar Express,” “Mars Needs Moms” showcases nine-year-old Milo’s (Seth Green) quest to save his mom (Joan Cusack) from Martians—a wild adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader (Mindy Sterling).
Take out the trash, eat your broccoli—who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she’s nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Produced by the team behind “Disney’s A Christmas Carol” and “The Polar Express,” “Mars Needs Moms” showcases Milo’s quest to save his mom—a wild adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader (Mindy Sterling). With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebel Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom—in more ways than one.

Here is the video trailer!

Ford Electric Vehicles Made Easy!

10:02 AM Posted by CalgaryDaddy

With the advancement of electric vehicle technology, I personally find it hard to keep up with all of the terminology of these different types of electric options.  Ford has put out a simple, easy to understand video that really explains the difference between the new electric/hybrid options available.

I love the fact that you do not have to be a car buff or engineer to understand the different options available! These types of vehicles really are the wave of the future and I cannot wait to learn more about them.

I think that there is a lot of misconception about the practicality of the hybrid/electric vehicles and how these options will fit into many families future buying decisions!

What are your thoughts on the electric/hybrid vehicles?

Kyron's Sesame Street Couch

8:58 AM Posted by CalgaryDaddy

In an attempt to feed Kyron's obsession with all things Sesame Street, Becky and I broke down and bought him his first plush chair.  He fell in love with this style of pull out sofa couch when visiting his friend Kingston a few weeks back and we just had to get him one.  The darn chair cost $50 and I can assure you that I never had any $50 sofa bed! ( Well, except in my first apartment when I was 19 years old.....)

Every morning without fail, Kyron takes his Elmo toys off of the couch and pulls it out into its bed position.  He loves this chair so much!

Here is a quick video, where he tries to show me every character on the bed!

Kyron loves it when Becky lays on it and pretends to sleep!  So cute!

Kyron's Parent and Tot Swimming Lessons

9:15 AM Posted by CalgaryDaddy

Kyron and I recently finished his second level of Parent/Tot swim classes and it was a blast!  The classes where held at the Southland Leisure Centre, which is the same pool that I spent the majority of my Saturdays as a kid!  The classes where really fun and are just intended to get the kids used to the water.  The majority of the time is spent singing such hits as "Tommy The Turtle", "Fishy Wishy" and the platinum hit, "Herman The Worm"!

Kyron loves the pool, except for when he floats on his back and the water hits his ears.  He was also not a huge fan of the waves and preferred to spend his time trying to find the 15 ft shark, bird and monkey statues.

Here is a quick video of the last class we took.... ( this was the only time we tried the life jacket and he hated wearing it!)

I can't wait for his next set of lessons!
