This New Moon Action Figure Is Just Creepy! Is the D-Cup Barbie Next?

Another reason that I am glad that I do not have a daughter!

Yesterday, I saw this New Moon action figure at Walmart yesterday I was a little disturbed!  I said to my wife, "what parent would buy a doll of a shirtless teenage boy for their daughter (or son?)...."  Becky thought that maybe it was not targeted at kids, but it clearly is in my opinion.  While I assume that the shirtless design falls in line with some important part of the movie, I think marketing this overt sexual theme to young girls is creepy at best.

I understand some of you are rolling your eyes and saying "get over it....its just a toy", but think about the pose for a moment. ( And remember, I never had a shirtless Barbie marketed at me when I was 10 years old!)  I do not want to try and justify the morality of this doll but I cannot see myself sending my kid to bed with this kind of doll.  Can you imaging the throngs of 11 year old girls stroking his well muscled chest and pretending to kiss this thing....lol!  It will definitely put the "action" back into action figure!

I am getting old and turning into a prude, but this just seems a bit off for my taste! Creeeeeeeepy!

( Maybe its just a Dad thing?)

Thoughts?

Yeah, ick. I love Twilight, New Moon, Edward/Jacob, but girls who are playing with Barbie's probably haven't Twilight - right? Gee, hope not! And in that case, this doll really doesn't belong in their hands...

I agree with you in that it is most certainly not something I would ever give to my daughter, but should they come out with a life size one for me, please let me know.

Ha! That is too funny, Maria - " should they come out with a life size one for me, please let me know".

There are WWF action figures out there that have less on, but the purpose and the target is completely different. This does seem to be a tad high on the creep-o-meter.

I would like it personally - but I am an adult.
I do not really see how it is different from the "ripped" GI Joe action figures.. just take off their shirt and it is the same.

It is a great replication of the movie Jacob.

I totally agree with you...and it is not just a dad thing. It should be a parent thing and it is concerning that more parents are not more concerned. Augh. Do not even get me started on the skimpy clothing (or lack thereof) for girls these days...

I don't know what you are talking about, my Ken doll was shirtless all the time! JK.

Seriously though, it is getting a bit ridiculous. I personally think even Barbie is way out of touch with reality. I mean really, who looks like that, besides the Real Housewives?!

I give it an 11 on the 10 point creepy/ick meter! Would definitely NOT buy this for a child & why would anyone else want it?

Uh oh, I better go put my twighlight doll away. He he.

Seriously though, I totally agree with you. My boys are into GI Joe figures. I refuse to buy the women though. Have you seen them. Size D cup might not even cover it! he he
