Induction Time! ( The Labour Kind....not The Hall of Fame Kind!)

Induction Time!

Well everyone....we are near the end of the journey!  Becky was due on 12/31/2009 which makes Taddy officially 1 week late!  Thanks to everyone that posted and emailed your tips to get the labour moving, but unfortunately Taddy has a mind of his/her own!

The doctors are going to try and induce Becky tomorrow ( and not with with a dose of Sex, spicy foods or long walks!) so we should see labour begin this weekend for sure!  I am really hoping for a safe and uneventful delivery and I cannot stress how proud I am of my beautiful wife as we head into the final days of her pregnancy.  She has been really amazing throughout the whole experience and I just cannot begin to express how much I love her!  I am pretty relaxed about the whole thing because I have such an amazing wife!

I hope to be doing my best Jersey Shore Fist Pumping this weekend, followed by a fat cigar!

Has anyone had experience with Labour Induction?

Talk soon and wish us luck!

Shane

I was induced twice. First time took 46 hours start to finish. Second time took 17 hours start to finish. Good luck!

I was induced and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!! As much as she thinks she might want to go "natural" (no epidural), get one before it is too late. Everything is going to be just fine...being relaxed is the best think! Good luck to you and your beautiful wifey (and Taddy)!!!

I was and I found it to be great my first one was a long drawn out processes. They kept me at the hospital and I walked it out unit I couldn't handled it any more and then I got my epidural. I wish Becky and you the best of luck and you have nothing to worry about. Can't wait to see pictures

Good luck! I hope it's an easy delivery. My aunt was induced with her 2nd child & she had the baby within hours.

The doctor attempted to induce me with my first son,Ryan,(who's 14 now) on a Tuesday. I was in the hospital for 8 hours - nothing happened. Luckily, I ended up going into labor and having him on Thursday. If I didn't they were going to induce again on Friday & if that didn't work, it would've ended in a C-Section.

My youngest son, Dominic, is two months old today. I was induced with him on November 7th. Was there at 7:30 am and he was born at 9:44 pm. My first two children were all natural, no drugs; however, I had an epidural with Dominic. Not sure why. lol

Good Luck & can't wait to hear about it.

i was induced twice and both were vbacs(vaginal birth after cesarean). oldest daughter induced on her due date. i think it was about 8 hours from time contractions started to delivery. my youngest daughter took only about 4. the doctor didn't almost make it. they had me turn on my side and kept legs closed...said that i had to wait for the doctor (when all i wanted to do was push!). i said to them, thru clenched teeth, this.baby.is.not.waiting.for.the.doctor! lol i swear, not 5 mins after doc got there out she popped lol p.s. had epidural w all my kids, but it was wasted on the last one. it didn't help at all cos i was so far gone w dilation and such. aaargh i hate when they say, when you're 3-4cm they'll do it & then don't come back for a couple hours or so. by that time you're ready to pop the darn thing out! lol

So excited for you both! FYI, my 4th child was induced, well, attempted induction. Spent 6-7 hours in the hospital with the pitocin dripping into me, only to be sent home -- still pregnant -- with a warning that I must be giving birth to a VERY stubborn child. That child is 13 now. The stubborn prediction was so true! (BTW, all 6 of my kids were born 10 DAYS after their due dates...my body must take longer to finish cooking them than most.)

I was induced 3 times. 1st time took 24 hours, 2nd time 12 hours, 3rd time 6 hours. Everyone is different. All I can say...don't be afraid of the drugs! Good Luck.

Hi there from another Calgary blogger. I was induced when I was having my first son, and everything was fine. The contractions came on very quickly and I got an epidural right away. My son was born a few hours later. Good luck to you and your wife!

All I can say is "Diamonds, Diamonds, Diamonds!"
The longer the labour the bigger the rock!

    Becky needs lots of pampering!
Flowers, Chocolates, massage, pedicures, manicures, afternoons at the spa!

I was induced with both....sort of. With my oldest, I was in latent labor for over 24 hours, so they broke my water to speed it up (which really didn't...it took 19 more hrs).

With my 2nd, I was induced at 39 weeks. I went in the night before and had Cervadil. Usually, it takes 12 hours or so for that to help. Took me 45 mins (my body was ready I guess!). Five hours later, with only 23 mins of pushing, my youngest was born. So it really just depends on how the body responds....

Hope to hear some news soon!

    Good luck!

I was induced with Natalie. I'm convinced that it's why she's so sassy with me. She's probably all, "B*tch, you shouldn't have forced me out, I'd have come out on my own time, thanks."
