Baby Clothes Mountain!

I think the "nesting" stage is beginning here at our home!

Tonight, Becky is going through the massive ( and I mean massive) pile of baby clothes that we have been accumulating over the past 6 months!  I would show a pic of her on the floor, but it you would think it was photo-shopped!  ( That and the fact that it may lead to speculation on Taddy's sex!)

During our trips to New York City and Great Falls, MT ( what a contrast!) this year, we had taken advantage of our American friends lower clothes prices and bought like we were shopping on "Black Friday".  Some of the deals were just too good to pass up.

Even today, I bought 10 outfits for Taddy... what is a Daddy going to do?  Becky is even worse than me and she is not known as a big time shopper.  We just can't refuse the cuteness, especially if it is on sale!  Anyways, she has gone through the pile of clothes and sorted it into piles based on age group.  Looks like we are sitting pretty for most of this stuff!

Cutest lines of the night?  " Honey...this is what Taddy is going to come home in"  and " This is what Taddy will wear when we go to Grandma/Grandpa's for the fist time!"

 I love it!

Aww that sounds like such fun! However, remember that 'Taddy' can only wear so many clothes at one time, even on cold days. :)

If you want to shop, do yourself a favor and start buying bigger clothes, like 6-9 months. It is amazing how many newborn and 3-6 month sized clothes you will accumulate before baby is born, either through your own shopping or at the baby shower. Then when the baby is about 6 month old you have nothing!

I am not only giving you this advice as a mom & grandma, I am giving it as the owner of a baby store that sells a small amount of consignment clothing too. In our store the #1 size in consignment clothing is newborn to 3 months, because they never get used!

On our stores baby shower registry we suggest that parents specify 6-9 month clothes and they always come back later and thank us for that.

    Wishing you well,

PS, Congratulations on getting in the Top 3 of the Dad2Be Awards contest! I am voting for you too!

Teeny baby clothes are so cute but I agree with Anna. Buy big sizes!

Both of my kids were in size 6-month clothes by the time they were 2-months old. Actually both of my kids wore sizes double their age (eg. at 6-months they wore 12-month clothes, at 1-year they wore 2-year clothes). However both of my kids are really tall so that may not be an issue for everyone.

My wife has 5 girl cousins with most of them under the age of 8. We were given so many hand me downs from them that I don't think we've spent a dime of clothes for our daughter. (except for the odd outfit)

The great thing about baby clothes is that they are only worn a couple times before outgrowing them so you can pass em on to the next child.

With that being said, we are screwed if the next baby ends up being a boy!

My daughter is almost 3 and I still can't resist all the cute clothes. She has way too many for someone her age...
thanks for stopping by my blog and congrats on your baby's upcoming birth!
